Crispin Blunt MP has welcomed the defeat of extremist Judge Roy Moore in yesterday’s Senate election. He had raised concerns about Roy Moore’s intolerant attitudes towards LGBT people some time before accusations were made about his inappropriate conduct towards girls under the age of consent.
Following Doug Jones’ successful election to the US Senate for the seat of Alabama, Crispin Blunt said:
“I am delighted that Senate Majority Leader, Senator Mitch McConnell, does not have to deal with the horrendous problem that would have been Senator Roy Moore. Thanks to the people of Alabama. You avoided opprobrium on the Republican Party in the US Senate and a particular difficulty with the Republican Party’s international allies through the International Democrat Union.”
