Crispin Blunt MP calls on local communities to come forward with proposals to tap into Biffa Award funding.
Biffa have confirmed that the Biffa Award will consider directly supporting projects local to the Biffa landfill site in Redhill, within a five mile radius. There is a pot of some £250,000 to be tapped into, which is prioritised for the Redhill area amongst a national scheme of over £7 million.
Following the Biffa landfill foul odours early last year, Crispin met Biffa’s senior management and welcomed undertakings given on community compensation packages to support projects local to the Redhill site. Biffa Award added an increased weighting for projects within 5 miles of a Biffa landfill site.
Crispin Blunt said:
“I strongly encourage local charities, environmental schemes, and community and sports groups to take advantage of the substantial pot of money available and come forward with proposals for community buildings, recreation and cultural projects.”
