Train services will be affected between Friday 1 December and Sunday 10 December inclusive, so it is very important that customers check every journey at www.nationalrail.co.uk
As of today (24/11/2023) information is available for Friday 1 to Sunday 3 December. Journey planners are expected to be updated as follows:
The 1-10 December has periods of strike action interspersed with a nationwide ban on overtime. It also coincides with major engineering blockades on both weekends.
As an overview, the combination of the three means the following for Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express or Great Northern services:
Please note, the ASLEF strike action itself is rolling across the period with different operators affected on different days. This is important if customers are travelling off the Govia Thameslink Railway network. As examples, on Tuesday, strike action will affect Greater Anglia and on Thursday, Great Western Railway.
Disruption across the ten-day period will be very significant. Customers currently planning on travelling on the weekends or on Wednesday in particular are advised they may need to change or reschedule their plans.
GTR are working to update their website information with day-by-day information as well as information on refunds and arrangements for travel on different days.
