Setting up a Foodbank Collection Point in your area
Thank you to all those amazing people who have now set up local Foodbank Donation Points
The local response group is trying to set up a network of Food and Welfare donation points across the area to support the work of all local Foodbank (Loveworks, St Matthews, Horley Foodbank, Welcare & Banstead Food Bank) and the Community Support Centre @ The Harlequin.
With so many people needing support currently, stocks of food and welfare items are running low and they are trying to make a big community appeal to replenish stocks and to all us to support more local people in need.
They are asking people to get together on their roads or community groups and to set up a donation point and to encourage neighbours and local friends to leave donations of food or other welfare items.
All the food collected will be collected by volunteers and taken to the Harlequin where it will be distributed out to vulnerable people via local food banks and the Harlequin directly.
Items we are looking for are varied and include
Tinned - veg, meat or fish, pasta, soup, rice, baked beans, pasta sauce, breakfast cereal, UHT Milk, jam, tea, coffee, long-life fruit juice, toothpaste, shower gel, biscuits, dried ready meals, etc
If you would like to set up a donation point where you live, there are three simple steps.
1) Find a box, preferably with a lid and place it somewhere where it is easy for people to find and where it's safe.
2) Email: foodbanks@reigate-banstead.gov.uk to let the council know where your donation box is so we can arrange to collect the contents when it is full (you can use the same email to let us know when you have donations to collect.
3) Tell your local friends and neighbours you have set up a donation box and encourage them to make donations.
You can also donate directly to one of our local food banks:
