The Ministry of Defence has announced that one of the two new reserve battalions is to be the 4th Battalion The Princess of Wales Royal Regiment and it will have its headquarters at Redhill Army Reserve Centre at Batts Hill.
Crispin Blunt MP welcomed the news:
“I am delighted to welcome the Battalion headquarters of the 4th Battalion of The Tigers to Batts Hill Army Reserve Centre. This will be great for our community.
“The Army is seeking to maximise the Reserve presence in areas that recruit well and the MoD has said it is a testament to our local area that they are confident of creating a new battalion at Redhill. The Borough has a proud record of supporting our regular and reserve forces and it will be a joy and an honour for our community to host the Battalion Headquarters.”
