Crispin Blunt has paid tribute to outgoing Rail Minister, Claire Perry MP, who resigned from her post last week.
Crispin Blunt said:
“Claire Perry resigned because she felt unable to address the terrible problems affecting commuters on the Southern Rail network, despite her best efforts. She found the system beyond repair, largely for historic and systemic issues beyond the control of a junior Minister. I applaud her for taking responsibility, and sacrificing her career. She has behaved honourably and now it must be for the new Secretary of State for Transport to demand the necessary freedoms from the Treasury to do something for the long-suffering commuters on the Southern Rail network. Otherwise the new Rail Minister, Paul Maynard MP, is going to find himself in exactly the same position.”
