Visitors to Redhill town centre and its new entertainment venue The Rise, will be able to enjoy convenient late-night parking in The Belfry Shopping Centre from June this year.
The Belfry car park will be open until midnight every day under a deal between the shopping centre’s new owners and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.
The agreement will make parking easy for visitors to The Rise, located directly opposite The Belfry on the High Street, bringing new cafés, bars and a range of leisure activities to Redhill.
Customers of The Light cinema and leisure venue within The Rise will be able to get free evening parking after 6pm if they validate their ticket.
The Belfry’s recently refurbished 750 space car park has extensive CCTV and LED lighting throughout, electric charging points, a number of wide bays, and blue badge and Shopmobility spaces. The car park was recently re-awarded the Police Safer Parking - Park Mark accreditation.
Other Redhill town centre parking is available at the Warwick Quadrant, Clarendon Road and Gloucester Road car parks. The Council is making a major investment into its Clarendon Road car park with the installation of a new CCTV system and lifts. For people coming to Redhill by train or bus, The Rise is located just a few minutes’ walk from Redhill’s well-connected train and bus stations.
Cllr Richard Biggs, of Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, said: “We are delighted to announce this deal with the Belfry. Going out for an evening at The Rise will be so convenient for those who travel by car. However, we encourage people to use more sustainable sources of travel if possible. The bus and rail station are less than a five-minute walk from The Rise, it’s a cyclist and pedestrian friendly area, and there will be lots of safe cycle parking at the venue”.
Andy Nash, Belfry Shopping Centre Manager and Chair of Redhill Business Guild, said: “From the first lockdown hitting just as the Council had commenced the building works, it’s so fantastic to see The Rise now starting to open up for customers. The Posadero Lounge is already an instant hit and The Light bringing such exciting new leisure options to Redhill. We are more than happy to help support it becoming a success by providing convenient and safe late-night parking at the Belfry. The Rise is an important step forward in developing a vibrant and healthy evening economy in Redhill.”
