On Wednesday 1st and Friday 3rd of February 2023, train drivers of ASLEF will take strike action.
Regrettably, as with much of the wider country, this means that on these dates there will be no Southern, Thameslink, Gatwick Express or Great Northern train service running in any location.
Those who need to travel on these dates will need to make alternative arrangements. GTR know how difficult this will be for many people and are sorry for the disruption. They are also very aware that in the context of wider strike action affecting education this will make for a difficult week for students.
As on previous strike dates, there is also an impact to travel on the day after each strike date, Thursday 2nd and Saturday 4th February.
This is because the normal plan relies on overnight shifts to provide late night and early morning train movements and to prepare trains for service, all of which are disrupted by the strike action.
As a result, first trains on Thursday 2 and Saturday 4 February will be later than usual, as a general rule after 07:15, with first trains expected to be very busy, after which the normal service will run. Customers are advised to travel later whenever possible.
As with previous strike days, customers will need to plan their journeys carefully. Journey planners such as www.nationalrail.co.uk are expected to be updated as follows:
For journeys on Thursday 2 February – Available now
For journeys on Saturday 4 February – Plan to be updated from Tuesday 31 January
