Crispin Blunt has noted the initial findings of the Nutech Ltd report into the Horse Hill drilling site. Mr Blunt commented, in response to the potential discovery of 158 million barrels of oil, anywhere between 3-15% of which is expected to be extractable, at Horse Hill:
“The first findings of this report are encouraging as a potential major step towards greater energy security for the country in the face of an increasingly unpredictable energy market. Until further exploration has been completed and the viability of extraction has been assessed this is all, of course, hypothetical. Any further development must be predicated on a determination to consult thoroughly and in detail with the local community. I expect the performance of the company to improve in respect of its local engagement as it will be necessary to keep local people informed and up to date with their plans and give them a real role in shaping any consequences of this find.”
