Crispin Blunt

Welcome

I am Crispin Blunt, Member of Parliament for the constituency of Reigate, which consists of 80% of the Borough of Reigate and Banstead. It has been a great privilege to serve you as MP since 1997 and I hope to keep you well informed of my work in Westminster and in the constituency through these pages.

In May 2010 I was appointed Minister for Prisons and Probation by the Prime Minister. It is a great honour to be serving in Government on these important issues and to be working for the Secretary of State for Justice, Rt Hon Ken Clarke QC MP.

On Thursday 22nd July Crispin made a speech on prison reform. The speech attracted considerable media attention and was widely misreported. Click on the link below for a summary of the speech and to read the text in full or watch a video of the speech.

Following the speech Crispin received a large number of emails from people who were concerned at what they had read in the press. Here is an example of two replies from those who then took the time to read the text in full.

I have now read the speech and agree, what Mr Blunt said has not been reported accurately. Sorry, to have troubled you.

Yours sincerely

MS

Thank you for the information below. I apologise for my blunt email but I just found the idea ludicrous. Thank you for clarification.

That will teach me to take what the press/media report to not always be the truth.

Thank you again

Regards
